COVID-19 Policy

Updated - August 9, 2022. As the threat from the ongoing pandemic continues, we want to let everyone know our thoughts and plans for Solution-Focused Brief Therapy training and client services. We take the safety of our staff, learners, and clients very seriously and are making every decision only after much consideration. Please understand that this is a constantly changing environment, and current plans may be modified as more information is obtained. Here is what we are doing to date:

  1. We are offering select classes in person. Attendees are encouraged to wear masks at times that social distancing is not possible and are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. We ask that anyone who has been exposed to COVID-19 or who is experiencing any symptoms contact us immediately and reschedule your in-person class.
  2. We will continue to offer many classes, including the July 2023 Summer Intensive, online using the free, interactive Zoom platform. The platform allows us to use breakout rooms for practice sessions and continue small group learning and discussion. Please know that we will keep class size small for best learning. We do not believe that large Internet classes are effective, and we will continue our focus on the personalized, discussion and practice based classes for which we are known. Our focus is always on quality over quantity.
  3. We are offering a refund or the ability to reschedule to another in-person class date for anyone whose class needs to be moved online if they are uncomfortable with distance learning.
  4. We are continuing to offer in-person individual consulting and therapy sessions as appropriate, and all late cancellation fees are waived if due to illness or possible exposure to COVID-19. We are asking that if you have recently traveled or are experiencing (or have been in contact with anyone with) cold, flu, or other health symptoms (including loss of smell, cough, fever, or shortness of breath) that you cancel your appointment or request the appointment be moved online. All individuals are offered HIPAA compliant telehealth, video, or phone sessions as available alternatives. Please note that only telehealth, video, and phone services are offered during county or state "stay at home" orders.
  5. All appointments for clients and professionals who are elderly or “at risk” and unvaccinated are only offered telehealth, phone, or online sessions. All client sessions are done using a HIPAA compliant platform.
  6. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer that meets the CDC's recommendations is available for staff and clients/learners. Bleach wipes are used on all surfaces that are touched/handled during a visit (door handles, table tops, chairs, etc.). The office is thoroughly, professionally cleaned each night.
  7. Should the trainer/therapist exhibit any signs of possible illness or there is any reason to believe the trainer/therapist has been exposed, all in-person services will be canceled for the appropriate length of time to rule out COVID-19. Services will be moved online as appropriate. We ask that you are understanding of any last minute need for a change in modality in order to ensure safety for all.
  8. When in person, please honor personal space of those around you. Follow all mask requirements. Please take advantage of available hand sanitizer; wash hands frequently; and avoid handshakes, friendly hugs, and other forms of personal contact. Please don’t be offended if someone declines such offered contact.
  9. All advertised classes will be offered as planned. Should the need arise, these events will be moved online We will not make any decision that we believe will compromise the quality of the training or change the format from a personalized, practice-based learning model. Under no circumstances will we increase class size or change to a lecture format.
